what size tractor you got you can get very good paddock mower which run off the pto just google paddock mowers. and do them for compacts. the tow behinds work well can get normal mowers or finishing ones. but you pick up a good small pto one at a farm sale starting to come up now as the weather gets warmer.

By the time you've bought one, put lots of expensive petrol through it (they drink it), diesel in your motor, and your time, you'll wish you'd paid the farmer a few quid to do it in five minutes flat.

I bought the mower due to the previous method being a local tractor coming in with his tractor and big topper.

Our ground conditions in the last few years has been terrible due to all the rain, there were ruts, broken drains and basically too heavy a machine for the job.

The farmer would do it when he had nothing else to do and would have to wait for a window in the weather.

With the tow behind mower on an RTV we could cut the grass in the pouring rain, flails don't clog the same and as they were so small and sharp they gave a cracking finish.

Bigger isn't always better:biggrin:
