Recomended New Tracked Chippers?

The greenmech 1928 is an exceptional machine - in both mobility/stability due to the safetrack system & chipping performance. Only downside is the poor chip quality due to the disc blade, but most of the time this is irrelevant. .

1928 is a pile of junk imo; can track anywhere yes but chipping performance is total cack - light years behind its nearest competitor; I've had them side by side and the 1928 blocked, jammed, struggled all day. Quadchips are tops tho :thumbup1:

The difference between safetrac chippers and normal tracked machines is massive - I can't talk highly enough of the 1928 greenmechs. They will go practically anywhere and have a really wide infeed hopper and feed rollers which are great for dragging brashy material in. I'm not sure why others have experienced these machines blocking up - I have used a damaged machine that did this but once repaired the problem was cured. If you are looking for a smaller fixed track machine from a weight/budget point of view greenmech now have a machine that takes the 6" timberwolf and Jensen on, but it has a 6x9 letterbox feed (taken from the quadchip) so is much better at dragging material through. These machines are available with the round disc blades (criticised by many - normally those with no operational experience of them - but in reality the longest lasting chipper blades available) or the square quadchip blades which look to me to be an expensive alternative. Get some demos from the different manufacturers and let us know how you get on.

Dear all,

It has probably been asked before, but struggling to find any info.

We are after a new tracked chipper, so: does any one have any recommendations/ steer clear/ ideas?

we would like a smallish one not too heavy as it will be used on soft mud/ foot paths/heathland/wet woodland reasonably flat ground. 99% of the time chipping holly brash (carnt wait!) obviously the bigger the shute the better but up to 8 " as any bigger will be fire wood

Ideally we could do with a dealer for good service and parts back up on the south coast

is there a model that can be used in its trailer for road use?

completely open to all suggestions, price is important but the right machine is more important!

many thanks in advance:thumbup:

Rich

no nothing about chippers but Jenson Chippers up sombourne hampshire. seen a few around about saw 5 monday looked like a convention of tracked chippers.
