I have looked into, have this type of accomidation in woods may be an option. The law states that if you are a forest worker, you can live there less then 1 season,"less then a year". If you buy a 5 acre woodland and have it on a 5 year rotation, 1 acre per year, you may get away with it.

would the land need planning permission, to be able to ask for temporary planning...eg can you ask for it if its on grazing ground etc

I know someone who lives on a boat, he has most of it on email but for the obligatory snail mail he has a post office box and collects it from the post office.

If you keep livestock on land you should get a postcode .

I lived on on with my ex for 2 years. We just stuck it on her parents land and went for it. Gutted it and put a new kitchen in. Big wood burner, carpet, bookshelf a all round was a great spot . Would live to do it again.

I too am always dreaming of the yurt grazing charcoal scenario, land with woodland(ancient) grazing and a stream is hard to find and VERY expensive here.

 

so Im almost tempted to move to france/romania/bulgaria etc

why would you get a post code if keeping a live stock

The price of small areas of any woodland in the UK is ridiculous

I'm pretty sure you have to have a postcode to register as a small holding with defra .
