  4. hi all, theres a land at work, who comes in for work experience, twice a week, when not at college. He has got his cs30-and 31 assesment in the morning. However, he said for the cs30, they ask you for a bore cut to severe the wood, we just usually cut down move the log over and finnish it. He reckons the trainer didnt cover bits, and wants to know if when carrying the bore cut, do you have to cut all the way to the ground and come back up, or can you leave a bit at the bottom, roll it over and finnish it of. Cheers
  5. hi guys, he did take the job, and found other work to fill days that were free, his chuffed. I worked for free to get my foot in the door so im surprised he hesitated
  6. it will be a strimmer and push mower, most of it will be taken away
  7. who prices cutting by the hour or by price, if pricing by price do you have a set rate and how do you determine by a small, medium and large
  8. hi all, on behalf of a friend, he has been offred a 3 day a week job as a groundy on books, he has just finnished college about 2 weeks ago, with some experience. He is 20 but has been offred a minimum wage, plus training, kit, week sick and holliday pay and couple of other benifits.he already had cs30 and 31. I thought it was ok, as ive been in the industry for about a year and get 60 a day. What do other think of this offer
  9. hi there, does anyone know if the cs30 and 31 course have a 5 day training with the assesment during thoughs 5 days or after the 5 days
  10. Hi all, Is it possible to be self employed and PAYE. By this I mean working for one firm 3 days a week PAYE and another self employed 2 days a week
  11. what if you could offer 2-3 days work every week
  12. £90 a day, very attractive. nice profile picture
  13. What would you say was fair for a subby groundsman, 1 year experience, ppe, saw, willingness to work.
  14. wouldnt of thought if they are for own use
  15. why would you get a post code if keeping a live stock
  16. I dont know about you lot, but do you find that when you tell someone your in the tree work game, they reply...thats good money. Is it though, and why do they think this
  17. would the land need planning permission, to be able to ask for temporary planning...eg can you ask for it if its on grazing ground etc
  18. I have looked into, have this type of accomidation in woods may be an option. The law states that if you are a forest worker, you can live there less then 1 season,"less then a year". If you buy a 5 acre woodland and have it on a 5 year rotation, 1 acre per year, you may get away with it.
  19. if you own a wood, do you still need a felling license. if you do, how easy is it to obtain. The reason I ask, is because to be able to live in a wood permeantly eg static home/caravan, it must be for foresters. I would have it on a 4-5 year coppice rotation, which is why I want to urchase around 5 acres, 1 acre per year.
  20. Who lives in one of these on own land, is it eay to get away with etc. Also, has anyone installed a log burner in one
  21. i thought i would see if i could get an up to date oppinion or if any new ones were out
  22. what splitter would you reccomend, something reliable and quality. nothing over £1000
