Bateson trailers

Just to throw a spanner in the works; brian james have started doing tippers whereas indespension have stopped doing them! Used to tow a bateson stock trailer with an old 4.2 landcruiser - was an excellent trailer.

Used to work for a company based about 5 miles from the Bateson factory, we have 4 or 5 Bateson trailers, all very good trailers. Staff very helpful too, they custom built a tiltbed for a tracked chipper for us.

its difficult to go against an ifor but we've an AT36 Bateson Tilt which has done 2 years with us from new, works every day loaded up to near max and is still ok.

 

 

Is that one of the ones with the floor that tilts aswell ?

I am thinking of getting one of those to replace my new Ifor with.

 

If you are buying new I would be looking at bateson & brian james over a new Ifor, thier build quality has taken a bit of a dive with the latest models imo

Good point tcd did think of them but there isn't a local dealer near me so wasn't to sure about getting spares ect. Also I know the dealer well so should get a good price but they only do ifor or Bateson

I did hear that there standards arnt what they used to be wich is a shame when you look at what they cost to buy

For spares we ring the factory and the parts are mailed to us. Always sent overnight. Prices are good too although trailer parts, brgs, lights are usually available locally..

 

Each to their own really when it comes to trailers. We have ifor, wessex and batesons and can't really fault any of them.

Yes. AT is for auto tilt. The whole floor lifts. To unload drive the mower back and the trailer automatically cantilevers up to around 30 degrees. Unload, release a valve at the front of the trailer and the bed returns to level.

chap at our yard has the tilt bed as above, nothing but mither, the ramps buckled and the assistor rams seize and bent frequently.

Dad also had a 16ft general bateson flatbed. vWas terrible, very poor quality finish,galv started perishing within 18months,chassis twisted and the suspension units needed replacing after only 2 years,he only transports builders tardis on it so was hardly abused weight wise.

however never had experience of the tippers, could be different
