OK taken pics but how do I get them up here?

Can't do cut and paste and I've no url (image insert above requests url) to plant them on.

The piston's well scraped up but apart from discolouring below the ports the inside cylinder is smooth.

It never seized solid, just lost compression.

Ok when you reply use quote not quick reply , scroll to the bottom of the page and click manage attachments . That will send you to your photos , well does on mine . Then you select the pics you want and up load them .......

Right, sorted

Here ya go with the pics. Just tried the piston with ring back in the barrel. Thumb over plug hole and a reasonable compression. Takes a second or 2 to reach the top. What do we reckon.

The inside barrel markings are more like a polished surface, can't feel any ridging etc.

Do the pics appear here or just sit in the folder?

Clean up of bore and a new piston and ring. Looks like a small amount of Ali transfer onto bore but if its smooth to touch then its not much to worry about, some cleaner will sort it. Don't be tempted to use any abrasive paper. It may damage the bore.

Not sure if meteor do a piston for it. That's spud area. He has shares in meteor, either that or he is on the take from the supplier.

Despite what Rich says, I don't have shares in Meteor, just recognize a quality product when I see it - these are made well, the Chinese ones may tempt you but what is £10 on 5 years trouble free use against a couple of outings and having a ring snap!

Cleaning the bore - both acid and alkalie will dissolve aluminium so these are the chemicals of choice - you leave the chemical on to do the work - generally 15 - 40 mins, wipe it clean and then use abrasive paper to get rid of any residue and lightly hone the cylinder. 400 grit is pretty good at getting the right finish - I have used 180 on troublesome pieces but not too much.

The bore should be smooth to touch with no transfer left on it.
