13mm climbing rope

my favourite is fly 11mm or elderid maderia ithink thats 12mm only 13mm line i like and use but rare now is yale xtc

ive got a large yale blaze which needs to me milked quite alot so i wont be getting one again!!!!

and i have 2 13mm xtc firewire one 37 and one 20, cant fault them!!!!!!!

i need a smaller prussic cord for the 11mm tho but use the trusty blakes on the 13mm:toilet:

Call me dumb but what is milking your ropes im guessin not for milk.

Its when the sheath stretches more than the core, resulting in a bit at the end with no core in the sheath. The solution is to recut the rope with a hot knife at the end of the core and re-seal the end.

It happens more with some ropes than others. NE Hi-Vee is pretty low milking, Blaze you will get a fair bit off over time.

ny old NE hi-vis was the worst ever rope for milking, got some serious churns out of it:D

Samson Arbormaster. Fat, strong , firm , long wearing and NO milking. The only line out there that you can have spliced on BOTH ends while new (But I don't really care about eyesplices on my climbing lines). New England Safety Blue is also nice line but since I started on Arbormaster nothing else appeals as much.

I got NE and the end has never stretched out i guess some do some dont.

 

What is the best climbing rope around im for want of new rope and would appreicate your knowledge.

im unsure if i should go for samson Arbormaster as its seems popular and has good reviews. also its a 12mm line which might be a better then taking the plunge on a 11mm rope and then not getting on with it. but im still tempted to get a velocity rope.
