I have recently started cooking on my stove

Casseroles

Rice pudding

Jacket potatoes done in 10 mins

I have one of them lecruset cast iron pots so most is cooked in there , so have any of you got any hints and tips or favourite recipes you would like to share ?

Me and mate also use stove everyday. Working in the sweden and always miles from any shop. I have the msr fuel stove. Brilliant bit of kit. Were not asbstravigant as u though and and only cook pasta in sauce, noodles, bacon n egg ect. Does the job and fills the empty space. Saved us loads of money :-)

slow cooking chilli con carni. Our Rayburn runs all the time so we try to get as much grub from it as possible!

Brown the meat (cheap cuts of beef) in the pot, add some water, salt & pepper, chilli powder and paprika, I add a cup of lentils to thichen it up. Cook on a low heat for a day or 2, fork the meat to let it melt appart, add a tin of tomatoes, and a tin of kidney beans. cook for another half day Minimum, Eat with rice, or potato wedges. Never will you want chilli made from mince again!

on the top off my coalbrookdale severn soups stews kettles on when stoves on etc i enjoy a brew of the stove tastes better

 

HI MATE my dad say it tastes butter on the rayburn mate jon :thumbup:

I mostly put a whistling kettle on ours.A nice game stew bubbling away on a nasty day outside is a joy.We have a couple of big stew pots that can sit happily on top for anyone to help themselves during the day.

Nothing too adventurous, but interesting thread.
