Cheers David, now that you have said that i am heading towards the Brick tuft, H.lateritium.

I kept coming back to the Sulfur tuft, which i knew it wasn't,  and the brick tuft isn't in my id book.

Not entirely sure but habit and features are similar to the clouded funnel (Clitocybe nebularis)

Could it be trooping funnel?

(1) On Beech log (2,3,4,5,6) Tree of Heaven (7) Near Maple Tree (8) Near dead Cherry stump (9,10,11) On wound at base of Ash, growth over several weeks (12,13) On large collpased Poplar (14,15) In lower split stem of small Poplar.
