Tis the season to see Fungi, fa la la la la....

There is always something to find and the wet warm spring has seen a lot of them doing a little show. As david says Laetiporus the chicken of the woods, also polyporus squamosus are reliable spring fruiters along with many mushrooms also. We are living in a great period (last 3-4 years) for funting, the climate has been good to the fungi at the right times for many seasons now.

Nice fairy ring of Calocybe gambosa and an extremely early fruiting of Suillus grevillei.

 

I thought that too, will be passing on the find to Dr Martyn Ainsworth who is head of the herbarium at Kew.

 

This was only a stones throw from the jodrell lab where he's actually based

 

I wager they were unaware.

 

 

Have you ever come across it around Larch in non plantation sites before Gerrit?
