Nice Jules

Clay soil?

Saprobic on just general wood detritus in your garden or anything specific?

.

No it's just in woody mulch.

I found loads yesterday at the base of a Liriodendron tulipifera, a compression fork at the base had torn off a few years ago, leaving no chance of recovery in that sector. I reckon the root on that side must increasingly be in a bad way.

What's the crown spread on the tulip like Jules?

.

Quite bizarre spread, tree looks like agiant leafy catapult, client confidentiality prevents me from saying much more than that.

A new one for me. Otidea onotica (hare's ear) perhaps?

I reckon so

I've usualy found them in deep leaf litter or very long grass associated with deciduous woodland, though Roger Phillips has them with mixed woodland also.

chance encounter in short mown grass :thumbup1:
