hi.....

new bloke here... looking for his first chipper and have seen this on ebay...

Green Mech 150 Wood Chipper shredder 3 cyl engine,road tow,year 2000,good cond | eBay

Has anyone had experience of this machine. Horticulture week - Review - Chippers and shredders | Login | Horticulture Week - gave it a great review..... but I've not used one... My experience with chippers, etc goes as far as a Timberwork 150 we've hired when needed...

TBH I haven't got a pile of cash so looking for something cheap but ok...

Any help please....

I have used one years ago, not a terrible machine but I wouldnt buy one unless I needed the shredding capability. You have to set both infeed chutes up before you can use it, which can be a pain in tight spaces, and it is quite heavy for a small capacity machine.

Its really aimed at the parks and gardens type crews who do a bit of tree work and a bit of gardening, if thats the kind of work you do its probably ideal, but for dedicated tree work I'd go for a normal chipper.

Any cheap machine is going to be cheap for a reason, if your handy with the spanners that may not be a problem, but you will get breakdowns.

As Pete says.....

Not bad a tool for some tree works and landscape stuff - we still use the same mechanicals on the current build although with a bigger engine. It has been quite a good seller since released in 1997 when it won prizes.

Best wishes in your hunt....

Thanks for the replies... In the end we've decided on a new Greenmech CS100 and trailer from George Browns. The large eco-combi would have been overkill. The main chipper jobs we do are hedges reductions. So a way to clear the long thin branches is what we are after.... We already have a couple of tipper trucks so this will help us get the rubbish off site in one go rather than multiple trips....

Thanks for the nod.. I've had a quick look and reckon its going to be quite a bit more money than the small Greenmech? Appreciate the CS100 has its limits but I think It'll do for us for now... We'll soon see....

the cs100 is a good machine.. alot of people on here will sing its praises. also after a trip to the green mech factory and meeting the people behind the greenmech brand, i would choose the greenmech anyday of the week.
