Ha ha very cool.

After seeing your thread on 1/2hr owls I thought I'd give it a go, practice for any shows I get to this year. Damn it's not easy! I don't normally do pure saw work and I've discovered I need a lot more practice:laugh1:

If you do carve carrbridge it's just saw only You can burn too. 4hour carve with a speed carve in the middle. practice practice.:thumbup1:

Got this email today of a paul Delaney.And a txt of Darren Taylor. A owl i carved.Think I'll make it in to a xmas card next year.

one you get more experience , you can get the owl 'blocked out' ( major cuts) in 5 or 6 mins, leaving the rest for 'rounding off' the edges and detailing work. amazing what you can achieve with a dime tip saw. good luck Simon.

Anybody point me in the direction of what type of saw to buy.I was looking to go with Stihl as all my garden kit is Stihl but they've stopped production of their Carving saw.

 

I've just bought a sthil 211 with an oregon carving bar. But i am very new to carving.
