Question for you all smaller companies reg for vat.

How many hours per week do you 'devote' to your accounts and tapping up quotes etc

We seem to be around 4hours minimum.

Thinking of employing a book keeper to free up time...

Ty

I'm afraid a book-keeper wont be able to tap up your quotes for you, order spares/materials, organise repairs etc.

We send monthly records to an accountant and would love to only spend 4 hrs a week on the stuff you mention :001_smile:

Works out at around 15 hours per week, but try to keep it to a 1 or 2 short evening sessions a week when everyone else has gone to bed and a part day during the working hours. The evening sessions can be very productive as there are no distractions, phone ringing, rep's calling, site visits, machine break downs etc etc......there however Arbtalk which is very distracting!:blushing:

Ah, I mistyped that one.

4 hours to enter all the receipts etc and alot more for quotes.

Then there is the 3monthly vat return...BLERK!

Ty

I did think 4 hrs was a bit low considering.

I'm on 2-3 days then theres chasing around for bits and pieces. It's amazing how much organising it takes to make a job run smooth and a business to run efficient.
