Rover could save himself the time and effort and just update the wiring by buying new..... The amount of time it takes to try and test it all.

 

Plus in a years time when it goes wrong again he will be scratching his head trying to remember all the colours again.

Yes on a 12N Plug white is earth pin3 but there was no white wire so I said the Black may be earth as it turned out it was, so that go's in pin3 instead of the white wire which was not there.(so how could he put the white wire in pin3).

 

It's a standard 7 pin plug

 

But you told him to suck it and see, thats what the issue is not colours
