Yeah bro:) predictive just makes it more fun to try and work out what I meant..

It's less dangerous on the new one but still a pain in the arse. I usually hear it referred to as presumptive text!

I can see the advantages of srt now and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

The nice thing is if you don't like it / can't use it, all but the friction sharer is ddrt kit anyway.

I have been thinking that a rec climb would be of invaluable experience to me but I haven't seen any on here local to South Devon also with my lack of skills I might be a little to slow for the other lads?

You're not on the clock on a rec climb, you can go as slow as you like!

i think there are two main types of srt in tree work

type one is just to accsess the crown using techniques from rope acsess and caving etc, this has been used in tree work for some time particulaly big trees in oz and the like.

second type which has been recently pionered by the invention of the rope wrench uses a single rope to work the whole tree and perform normal work( not just acsess)

try looking up srt, rope wrench vids on you tube, should give you an idea,

the best bet would be to get shown by somone in the flesh tho.

hope this info is correct and helps .

srt is very efficient and time saving in a lot of tree work imo and well worth at least watching and trying.

cheers carl.

I can't comment on srt work climbing because I've never done it ... but honestly dude once you use srt to access a tree for the first time you will never want to do a long ascent any other way
