Tachyon Vs pioson ivy

I think they are the same diameter officially but the tach feels narrower.

 

More or less the same.. Like 11.7 mm(PI Sunburst) while Tachyon is 11.5.

I like them both.

Alyways thought they were same diameter-ish, had heard PI had more stretch though not tried myself. Used Tachyon for a couple of years very good on hitchclimber, switched to velocity for SJ.

Poison Hi-vy gets my vote!! Or that new Calamine, purple looking version! Defo avoid the PI, i find its colour a pain in the arse! Black and green! I can see why people have cut their ropes with that!! (Although i am on Tachyon atm, but when the time comes i'll replace it with a bright version of the poison Ivy!)

teuflburger tachyon is very static and firm in hand, the Newengland Tachyon is bouncier but feels alot nicer in hand, Poisen ivy is slightly larger and is fairly static i really like my hank of it.

I use a Bulldog OAR and have both Tachyon rope and the teufelberger version, they are both lovely and I would happily get them again. I have a rope which is in need of replacement and was just looking to try something new, I don't want to end up with a bungee rope, less stretch the better.

In my experience Bing! the PI will slip with 2 arms on the OAR .

I kind of assumed that the PI being .2 thicker would still be ok. I guess you've tried most ropes by now Gordon, what made the difference? Outer covering? Or does it stretch, causing a change in diametre?

I use my tachyon as an access line srt wr & work off of it srt as I prefer it's elongation in comparison to my other working line (not pi).

 

Elongation wise I think both are roughly the same but I went for tachyon as I thought orange is a better color than green both in the tree & tailing on the ground.
