Do you stack ?

I do about 50% stacking, 50% leave it on the drive. I find stacking does win you repeat custom, the amount of times I've heard "the last person I got logs off just tipped it on the drive and drove off"...

I keep saying I'm going to start charging for it but not sure what to do about my regular customers as they won't want to have to start paying extra for something they used to get free.

We allow 10-15 mins per cube, if they have a decent store with back & sides & it's within easy reach of their drive way, we can easily do a cube in 10-15mins. That's included in the price. We don't charge extra for it as 10 min is nothing if they come back again and again, & they do. Sell them decent wood, at a decent price, with a decent service, look decent, talk decent & act decent, people appreciate it. Just our experience of course, but it works for us.

For anyone out there who wont stack, we also hear the above comment a LOT!

Tipped logs or bags left miles from house are no good to most people, especially an old lady or someone with a broken leg (yes I've seen it done), so stacking does get a lot of repeat business (but there are always the 'buy whatever is cheapest brigade who I cant be bothered with, they dont care if wood is green or dry or appreciate my lovely dry logs!).

I've said this before butwe'd pile on pounds of weight in winter if I just sat on my backside and tipped, Stacking keeps us fit, makes the job more interesting and is good customer relations, I often pick up neighbours/passers by Log orders, tree work etc when we spend 15 minutes unloading / stacking.
