makita DCS9010 seems a cheap deal

Avoid standard sprocket-less nose bar - kills power. Takes a LONG time to loosen up and develop full power. Very heavy ~ VERY tough. Will last forever. Massively over engineered saw.

sweet cheers... would you buy another?

Holy thread revival Batman! (Google is a wonderful tool for finding stuff on Arbtalk - google anything chainsaw related and the first entry is nearly always Arbtalk).

Quick question - does anyone know if the running gear (chains, bars) are the same between the DCS7901 and the DCS9010? I ask because my 7901 is presently a bit poorly (AV mount buggered) and the hundred quid between a new 7901 and 9010 makes me think that a bigger saw might be a good option.

makita/dolmar i can't fault.

the makita we have was bought 14 years ago, been run on regular fuel, has been stood for months at a time and has probably cut 1000's of tons of logs for us over the years.

So far 2 bars and i cannot count how many chains we've used and a re-tune now and then and absolutely nothing has ever gone wrong or broken with it. Completely original from new. Amazing really.

I'm trying to save for a 7900, but have noticed that the 9010, is sometimes cheaper or nearly same price as 7900. The 7900 is now the newer ea7901, whereas the 9010 is still the dcs9010. this could be the reason for the prices. So maybe you have a could point J.

hello harvey this very true prices are similar sometimes at the moment

the 7910 and the 9010 i feel personally are two different types of saws the 7910 is more slimline sllek and fast the 9010 is more of a torque monster its a bit like running a sachs dolmar 123 or 133 and comparing it to a sachs dolmar 152 or 153 :thumbup:
