makita DCS9010 seems a cheap deal

Makita ChainSaw 90cc DCS9010-74 | www.tools4trade.com for the price of 676.10p seams cheap for a saw of that size so what are they like

Probably worth trying to scrape together the extra £100 mate and get a Stihl 066. IMO

 

Makita gear is OK, their drills and cutting tools are awesome, but don't think its as up to the mark in the chainsaw dept.

think is the operative word ie. guess rather than know for sure. Pick up a 9010 or an Echo 8000 and the words battleship and boat anchor will come to mind. A 66 is far nicer to use tho and best pwr/wt ratio. You'll never break a 9010.

i only every had a saw repair once and will never pay for a repair i cant to my self that was a ms180c oilier never quite work right so decided to have a new one fitted was 35 pound to strip the saw down 60 pound for part and a further 35pound for re assemble so coast 130pound to fix a saw that was only 170pound when i bought it new and the saw still never oil right all my other saws are echo and have never had the need for any repair or tinker with so i chave chose to buy new than rahter have a dealer repair due to the fact that time wasting as i can buy a new say and sright back to work and it wont be that much more than the repair

Avoid standard sprocket-less nose bar - kills power. Takes a LONG time to loosen up and develop full power. Very heavy ~ VERY tough. Will last forever. Massively over engineered saw.

changed the studs on mine so I can use standard husqvarna guide bars... works great
