That's the thing Ben, I can't be arsed with experimenting.

I keep thinking "Sod this, I'll order a BDB" but then I remember that the HH is perfect when the hitch is right.

If you dont want to experiment maybe stick to a prussic :001_rolleyes:

on a serious note, the only reason i can think of for you having trouble is perhaps that a cord/hitch will perform differently with the friction sink above it to below it.?? Maybe stick the suggested hitch cord for the device? im sure theres a reason that is the recommended cord. Ive found the old beeline to work great on my cougar too. Maybe you're just fussy:lol::001_tt2:

You're right Ben, I am being fussy but that's because my HH has always been perfect on Poison HiVee with Beeline and Armor Pruss and Liros.

I love Cougar Blue because it's so static and I climb on a base anchor usually.

I just wish I could get a hitch to work properly on it.

Rag it up a bit , it's probably still quite new . Climb ddrt on it for a few days to fluff it up a little .

Stick to what you know then? Like Jesse says im sure it will work differently when it gets a little fluffed up. Part of the problem is that you're using a HH hahaha! maybe you should try a good device :P

Not sure if its been covered before, but have you guys tried the pinto spacer trick?

I've been Hitch Hiking on and off for over a year and this is the best mod I've come across. Makes the device run smoother and tend better from my experience.

Cant find a pic but the spacer goes on the steel carabiner inside the body, clamping on the rope instead of the biner itself.

Yes mate it's been covered in the first few posts, the thing with the pinto spacer is wear, if you don't or the pinto does not turn then being aluminium can cause wear very quickly. This causes uneven turning and eventually becomes worst than just running of the steel bina. It's a cool idea but maybe a stainless version would be better IMO :)
