yeah worst saw to work on had to replace my top anti vibration spring wasnt easy i leant on the handle moving along a tree sneding and it snapped so try avoid that...

:confused1: Some oaf did that to mine, but as I recall it took less than ten minutes to fit a new one. I remember having to pull a wire with a nipple on the end with a pair of needle nose pliers, but I don't think it was too tricky.

Best advice I can give is to do as I've done today- sell your two year old MS181 on eBay for £145 and buy a brand new one for £200.

What's really crappy about them is the throttle linkage and choke selector mecanism. The plastic wears in no time and you end up either living with just a choke position and a run position, or spending ten minutes every time you use it putting everything back in place.

From now on, mine will be reaplaced every year. :thumbup1:

Got myself a 181 a couple of months back and find it a great little saw as long as the chain is sharp. Think I've just managed to run it in as it seams far better this week. I've noticed I'm using it more than my other saws at the minute might be because it's new

Had mine just over two years last month. I love it its a great wee saw, I've climbed with n everything and I've not had one problem with it at all. Though it would lie unused for a month at a time sometimes

Mine is a complete pain in the 'arris. So much that after about half an hour of it starting and then dieing immediately, it was put down with a little more force than was strictly necessary. As a result, I have to replace some throttle parts as didn't find them all... :(
