After climbing om my sj for over 2 months now i decided to leave it at home today and opted for good old prussic! i thought i wouldnt move around lots in the smallish cherry we dismantled so the prussic would be fine:thumbdown: How wrong could i of been any form of movement be it up or down out on limbs seemed a million times harder! i had no cambium saver in so i was fighting friction i needed two hands on the rope to advance the prussic where as the sj i could have steadied myself with 1 hand whilst tending slack with the other. the only good thing that came out of this was the fact id trod in dog crap and ended up with it all over my rope an hitch! if it was allover my sj i would of been gutted

Lol fortunate, but would you still have thought? I should have used a Pussik then my SJ wouldn't have got dog crap all over it.

Love my SJ but ive climbed on it for 3 years now and hitches heave there place too great for everything SJ's apart from small ornamental street trees, I love the decents swings and jumps with precision with the SJ On bigger trees a must have tool!

I'm also contemplating getting a SJ - at the moment I use a LJ but sometimes the descent can be a little jerky. I have one question though - how easy is it to use the SJ with your left hand? I mainly use my left hand to operate the LJ on descents and limb-walks and judging from pics it looks like this might be a little more complicated on the SJ because the standing part of the rope or the dyneema cord (depending on the model) might get in the way when using the thumb break.

cheers, Philipp :)
