Hi Andrew dont had any experiance with driven timber trailers but have with agri tipping trailers were ther are to types one is ground pto driven and the other is hydraulicly driven both have plus and minuses if your doing a lot off hi speed road work stay away from the hydraulic drives as they over heat the motors but the pto driven ones limit u to the type of tractor u can use as its hard to find a modern tractor with ground speed pto and both take about 20hp to run hope this helps!

I must admit I've only ever seen driven trailers with the crane attached never as just a trailer. The moheda ones are very good, hydraulically powered that drop down between the wheels to give 4wd to the trailer.

One thing to be aware of is don't put big driven trailer behind a little tractor or you'll end up with broken gears and diffs.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice there. I will have a look into the various units and see what seems reasonable. In the meantime if anyone knows anymore about the pro's and cons of the cage drive compared to hydraulic it'd be great to know. P.s its been on the cards for a while stu but i must admit getting stuck does highlight the need!

Cheers again,

Andrew

.But if you can still find one the timberliner 8000 was the best i have seen IMO

Only ever seen them in pics but they did look proper sturdy. Weren't they heavy enough though that they didn't have legs on the loaders? Did very nearly go to look at one for sale with a Valmet before I bought the County.
