some people may be interested but as a woodturner the small bits i've had were soft as hell and in my mind not fit for either turning or furniture or any other craft.

chainsaw carvers might want it???

I was involved in milling one some years ago. It was a fine piece if timber with knots evenly spaced. It went to make kitchen cupboards and other similar items.

If you can find a miller and the storage space, consider turning it into 12' x 8" x 7/8" planks. As good as money in the bank and something lovely to look at.

must just be me that doesnt like it then.

on reflection the bits i had were very young and fast grown so consequently quite soft. perhaps a tree that has reached any state of maturity will have a harder timber to play with...

i'll give it the benefit of the doubt for the moment.

The difference in sapwood and knotwood is huge. When you're cutting it it's a bit like cotton wool with lumps of iron in.

If that's who I think it is - we communicated re him a couple of years ago - he travelled to Horsham to collect some then.
