I made a double mistake in my maths as I was sure that a cube of hardwood was about 450Kg at 20% mc as Rovers says... so I don't need my upwards adjustment.

My bet is now on 35 cube...ish if you're allowed to change bets in Arbtalk world:001_smile:

Dear all, my Brother and I have been offered 25t of Green Hardwood and we are considering buying it, processing it and storing in a barn until next winter. But can anyone please tell me how many dumpy bags 1000/1000/1000 will 25t fill.

Regards James:001_smile:

op says not ordinary dumpy bags, regular builders supply bags tend to be 0.64m cube. I assume 1000/1000/1000 is millimetre dimensions.

just spoke to my cousin who had load wood off me in spring... he's got a metre cube bucket on forklift and has taken 45 loads out so far with fair few lengths left... and the bucket would never be underfilled... more if anything...

It really is an impossible question to answer to be fair, specially without knowing anything about the wood type. Theres a world of difference in volume between say a load of green hornbeam/oak and a load of green ash/sycamore

too true... does my head in when i'm constantly messaged asking what weight i get on a load.... it doesnt matter as long as the trailer is full... if they ask for pure beech i tell them it wont be afull load..

these timber cutters arent stupid.. hence the reason if they have any oak on a job or beech they'l mix it with ash or sycamore so the lorrys full...
