I believe I will be buying the full Windows 8 pro model when it comes out purely as I run several PC specific packages for my business. It ticks all the boxes for me. If I can click on the keyboard and plug in a mouse when I want to do serious work and then just have it as a tablet for browsing on the sofa then that's me done.

I love my iPad but it's not a PC replacement for me, just because it won't run certain things I use. I expect a lot of people are in the same boat. I can't really see the cut down one they just launched doing massively well though.

I agree, although I understand our Asian friends go nuts for big screens (Samsung's etc) but they don't want a full size tablet so this fits the bill perfectly. I think that is market place for this device and it's huge. The few extra that Apple can mop up from around the world from the die hard's are a bonus.

There are viruses and security holes that affect apple products, you just don't have a program to tell you if it is happening. A lot of viruses and the security vulnerabilities that affect both windows and mac do not wipe your files, make porn pop ups appear or even flash up on the screen telling you that you have a virus. They allow access to your computer across your network or the internet, to steal data for identity theft etc. use your computer for forwarding spam and other internet attacks such as 'denial of service' attacks aimed at web and dns servers. Like a real virus, just because you can't see it doesn't mean its not there.

All I know is that with my old laptops running Microsoft, I had to keep installing security software, I continually had problems with the screen freezing for some problem or other, when I used to turn it on it took for ever to start, over time it got slower and slower, I got very frustrated using them and after a couple of years it was scrap.

I bought a macbook air nearly 12 months ago, its worked faultlessly for all the time I've had it, its never slowed, it comes on within seconds and is a joy to use and there is no way on earth I would ever go back to Microsoft.

It's a shame Psion never really got going properly. The Series 5 palmtop is still a great little computer* very robust and fantastic run time on a couple of AA batteries.....

*unless you're interested in spending your day taking moody emo self portraits for posting on Facebook or playing Angry Birds.....

Exact same experience with me. I'll never go back to MS and Cloud has made my whole Apple system even better. 👍
