Hi,

 

I am currently undergoing a project which is looking at biosecurity as a tool in the fight against Phytophthora spp.

 

I am currently still at the 'research' phase and would be really grateful if any of you out there who work in forestry, own woodland or visit woodland frequently (even socially) could take a few minutes to complete this survey.

Done, but as I work on P ramorum infected sites my answers will probably be quite different to others

I am going to link this to my face book page to help this a bit, some of those here will bias the survey as many of us take great care regarding Pand D issues. I for one pour boiling water over the soles of my boots and scrub before visiting a site.

would you use the meths based disinfectant as recommended Tony or is there a reason for sticking to boiling water as I thought forest research didnt consider this to be suitable for P ramorum. Just wondered if you thought the industrial meths could have a detrimental impact on mycoriza etc or is it just for practicality etc?

The way i clean my boots before a visit to an ancient woodland would not give a disease a chance! they are like new when i leave the house, another reason I try to keep boots only till they start to get tatty no crevices to hide in boots of good condition:thumbup1:
