I got a letter from the council saying that somebody has reported me for selling logs from my property! and that i have not applyed for planning permission to change the usage of the property. however all the logs on our property are for our own use as we have a log burner! i do have a sign on the gate advertising logs and my tree business but all the logs i sell come from a yard i rent! can the council make me take the signs off my own gate :confused1:

Yep exactly what you have just said.

The signs are for advertising only. Get the council bloke to come up and have a chat. Tea and biscuits are good. Chances are its another supplier or an annoyed neighbour. Had it before. Once a visit has been made and the council are happy that the logs are for own use they will leave you alone. They may want to see the yard aswell.

Its sad people dont have nothing better to do than report you for this, Hope you get it sorted easily.

Ain't it the truth:sneaky2:, we call them people busy bodies over here. Never happy, and they expect everyone else to be the same way.

In short i would ivite the planning enforcement officer over for a site meeting , once he has been and had a good nose i wold then suggest that you and him pop over to your business premises so that you can confirm that your trading from there . this should put a stop too your problems , if not then i would send a written request to the planning enforcement asking for evidence of the alleged accusation .
