I'm not too far from you, so if you want a demo PM me

Cheers, might have to take you up on that before too long :thumbup1:

Hey Chris, yep I'll be able to supply the winch seperate say for example if you want to use the Dyneema with it instead, as for price I have 10 days to wait for the finalised landed costs then I'll be able to get the best price to you, that ok? :001_smile:

Who do you deal with for most of your stuff atm?

Nice one, no huge rush as I've not yet started the site I'm thinking it would come in for.

Have only ever used wire before but always on bigger winches for skidding and never had any problems but from what everyone's saying, the dyneema is the way to go on the smaller ones.

It'd be interesting to see how the dyneema fairs when dragging through the dirt though.

As far as the left hand being close to the exhaust, Iv'e never noticed this at all. When I use the winch, I have hold of the chainsaw, as I would when normally using the chainsaw (left hand on wrap round handle)

Maybe I'm using it wrong?

Hey Dave, as long as there is not a strain on the mount between the chainsaw and the winch I think you are ok, from using it in training I've been holding the winch (with left hand) by the winch handle on the top... But saying that now seeing Big Bolt's photos the winch hook secured into the stump would make far easier work to stablise it in action meaning you only have to hold the chainsaw in normal handle mode.

I'll have a look into the Dyneema too, thanks Josh and everyone :001_smile:

The only thing I use the top winch handle for is to carry the thing about, and attached to a 372, you don't like carrying it too far.

By the way, anyone using one should read the instructions and use thread lock on the nuts and bolts, as mine did work loose, especially the ones holding the oil inside. The thread lock cured that problem.

While trying the demo unit the other evening the handbrake assembly fell of the side of the winch. The only bit we couldn't find was the grub screw that's meant to keep it all in place!! When I can positively match the thread I'll fit a new one. WITH THREADLOCK.

I drilled the drum out a bit and use 9mm dyneema on mine, its heaps easier to use, no sprags, makes the winch lighter to carry about, doesn't crush if its not spooled 100% correctly, plus, if it should snap does not fly about like snapped wire rope. I have an old 024 permanently fixed and it seems to do the job... My 044 was a bit bteer but I use that heaps..
