I had a total hip replacement about 4 years ago and am at home recovering from having the other one done as we speak. It depends whether or not your prosthetic is glued into the femur ( I was considered younger so had a non cemented prosthetic) If you have the noncemented version, recovery time is longer as the bone has to set around the prosthetic. I am currently applying for a job with a power company so doing bucket work.. Climbing in spikes should be avoided I reckon... My old new hip hasn't given me any gype at all.. I climb with a Skylotec kolibri, I had bought a Buckingham Traverse thinking the seat might be easier but it wasn't... If you play the long game and don't rush into things you won't have problems IMHO

I converted a Hilux ute into a tipper, works really well, there are aftermarket electric over hydraulic tipping systems about , it did end up costing a bit more than i thought but still cheaper than buying another truck.

I have a Skylotec and love it, I am on the chunky side as well... I wouldn't mind one with the leg clips but cant justify a new one. There is no such thing as the perfect harness, there is always something not quite right or needs changing. I have never used a Tree Motion (Flash Harrys Harness) but they sell by the gazillions so there must be a reason... Mostly skinny buggers though... -
Don't get me wrong, if they can't be talked out of it, I will reduce the tree ( unless its something special, I walked away from a large Copper Beech job a week or so ago) but I always try and give the customer the best advice i can.. And when i reduce a tree, i do the best job I possibly can..

Talked 4 clients out of reducing trees this week, went for crown lift and thin for filtered light instead.. Best strategy seems to be telling the client that once the tree is topped, it has to be done continually, " I'm happy to come back every year..." The other issue seems to be Elder Tree Fear Syndrome... Old people are scared of trees, explaining that trees grow up and explaining how trees need to bend in the wind and looking for any defects so I can reassure the the old git seems to work...

Have an overgrown Wisteria climber on a verandah to prune back to make a scaffold so the old dear can keep on top of it with her hedge clippers.. Any ideas or snags to watch out for?

Thats not the new one, Its a another one!!! Its a Husky version of another make owned by Husky.. Its pretty similar to the Echo... If you look on US forums they will tell you. The new husky is a T540 and it was on the UK Husky website for 699 quid... due in New Zealand later in the year, so they reckon!

Hansa chippers are really well made, I have a C40, 6x12" with a 40hp diesel. Best chipper I have ever used... beats greenmech, bearcat, etc hands down, would put it up against a Bandit 6" anyday (I used to have one) Obviously to take them to the UK makes them pretty dear, same as the guy selling Jensens here for $45,000

I stopped sugar february this year, no cakes, chocs, icecream, biscuits, etc No sugar in tea or coffee. Took about a week to get used to no sugar in my cuppa. I eat fairly healthily but still have a pie for lunch, fish and chips once a fortnight and the odd KFC. dropped 20 kgs and still losing weight, I was teaching so only part time climbing and that includes 6 weeks off work and another 6 weeks sitting around after a hip replacement. Sugar is poison... Pies are good!

Has anyone heard of this brand of EWP? An outfit here in NZ is advertising a truck with a huge one on it and was wanting to look at a smaller rig but Mr Google doesnt seem to know them..

get a proper Tirfor, lots of cheap chinese copies about that just don't do the job...
