getting the confidence

to any of you who have been climbing for a few years, whats your advise on boosting your confidence. climbing at hights can be a little daunting at times

Think of the money..... erm sorry, once you've set up your line/saftey system your away, and after you've been in the tree a little time it gets easier to go further out etc..... You know what you have to do and concentrate on the job

 

If its a big one and your taking it down and your getting to the end of the day, all your bothered about is doing what needs to be done to get it down.

 

And in the end you get paid

take your time first of all . have a good look before you start . little steps to begin with . good lines of communication with groundies . check and double check all knots and enjoy the view ....

ive been up about three times now, as i dont have my cs38, but am lucky to have someone show me. he said you wont be fully confident untill about a year, and to be fairly quick after about 3.

That’s not a quantifiable thing, everyone is different, much will depend on your personality, I took to a rope and harness and enjoyed it from day one, the higher it was the better I liked it, others may differ.

 

It might help of you bear in mind that a fall from fifteen feet can kill you the same as a fall from fifty feet

Been climbing 2 years and I'm still gaining confidence, just keep at it and it will improve without you realising.

yeah, i think its a case of getting into your head that you are secured by the ropes, dont get me wrong, ive loved it, but its still in the back of my mind. obviously, the more i go up the better i become

sit back and keep your hands off your rope or clutching your friction hitch, look around, realise i don't need to keep hold of my rope all the time, trust your rope

ive got confidence in the main line, its just with the main strop and standing proud
