Should you really be divulging this kind of information on a public forum??

Divulging what info. We got called out to a kayak in trouble in the harbour, no sure what I can't divulge about that, he was drunk yes but as there is no law against it there is nothing illegal about it. It won't go to a court and the police questioned him as he caused a risk to his and others lives. The police took details as they always do and went on there way.

What we do does not effect anything that happens legal wise and I'm very sure I'm not stupid enough to put about anything illegal that could get me in trouble.

Plus the RNLI with have a press release out before I have got home.

God knows.

It did make use laugh that's for sure. Reports from coastguard where of an upturned vessel or rib, it was black and shiny out the water, so thoughts where of an inflatable rib.

Got there and it was the penguin.

I was in stictches about it.

But from a ships point of view they report what they see, coastguard then decide if we get sent or to. And if a ship says the can see an upturned black shiny thing in the water it could be anything.

Just thankfull it was an inflatable toy and not a rib that could of had people on board.

Just going through some old pics. This one came up.

It was my very first shout on the lifeboat on Xmas eve 2012, was a sudden one that I was at the checkout at the local morrisons, had to leave the missis and my boy at the till and run. The security guard stood in my way when I was running but thought better of it and moved.

Was a trial by fire. If anyone can guess why we are wearing surgical gloves they can figure out what the shout was.

Was not a very nice one and was a very harsh welcome to the lifeboat.

  • 2 weeks later...

Saw this on Monday and thought of you. Apparently it is the biggest boat the RNLI have and they come to Amble in Northumberland because it has one of the few cranes capable of lifting a 60 ton boat out of the water. My uncle who lives nearby and has lots of boaty friends reckons they change the props evry year at a cost of £30k a time!!
