New scheme being introduced by BALI called LISS: land based industry skills scheme. I think its no different to basic CSCS but allows you to add specific skills to the card as you gain them.

 

CSCS as stated above is simple touch screen test for health and safety, you can still get this and just put Labourer on the forms, most sites don't care what it says as long as you have one. Its just a box ticking exercise.

I passed my CSCS quite some time ago. We hadn't received cards so it was followed up. In the time taken to issue the cards the scheme changed and now they are trying to charge for the new scheme.

You do still need to study the book I know someone who did not and failed who is a smart guy

NPTC proves a level of competence way beyond CSCS if your prepared to argue the toss.

 

However, for what it costs and the simplicity, it is mostly easier to just comply.
