further to yet another ebay trader from Northumberland selling sticks, using our images on ebay - now i dont mind who sells sticks, indeed we are friends with many merchants both on arbtalk and in our locality who we supply with firewood cord and sticks wholesale, but when someone uses another companies images to promote their so called wears !

 

be honest and take your own photos of your own stock!

 

firewod merchant of northumberland on ebay - you know who you are! please play the game fair and show your own wears to your customers - be honest we dont supply you so stop using our images!

ask your web guy to disable right click on mouse over on pictures, this wont stop people stealing your pictures but it makes it harder.

Its hard to believe that people are still so naive these days to think they can take peoples pictures and it go unnoticed. This happens all the time. The interweb isn't quite so big as people thing, particularly in such a niche field

We got a new piece of equipment and I took a picture of it, in time I used the picture on another forum to show someone it, next thing is the manufacturer has used my pic on website and adverts in national mags. Cheek.

A business nr Newbury did exactly the same thing to us last year. They are not arb talk members. Its annoying but also a compliment as your stock is clearly much better than theirs.

We used to get ebayers hot linking to our images. One way around it is to not use the image yourself and then change it to a text image saying 'Buy one get 2 free!'

 

Or similar. Use your imagination.

If anyone wants to check their own images are not being used elsewhere then TinEye Reverse Image Search searches the internet for other instances. It doesn't find all of them but may locate some blatant misuse.

Put up listing on ebay with the title Our kindling is so good others on ebay have to hijack the pictures.
