I have to plant a crimbo tree that won't grow too big. Currently there is a reciently dead Korean Fir, which i think is the best type of tree, as it is pretty, not too big when fully grown, and with fantastic purple cones.

Does anybody have a better sugestion ? Helpfull or otherwise

Where is the best place to buy a 6' tree. I have tried to persade tham to get a smaller tree, as it makes it harder to get it established. But they want a big tree.

Similar to the korean fir you've got the flaky fir - Abies squamata that too though like the korean can grow to 15m

Others that could reach 20m that look nice (either foliage or cones) are the Cork Fir - Abies lasiocarpa var. arizonica (hard to grow), Maries' Fir - Abies mariesii and Sakhalin Fir - Abies sachalinensis

Don't know where you would source them though, try barchams:biggrin:

And above lies your answer. As to where to buy it - I suggest getting the one from Trafalgar Square, spray paint it green, job done................
