Beech Pruning - What's Best For The Tree?

Hey up,

I've got a semi-mature Beech to do some work on. It's a typical case of the owner of a new home wanting it hit hard due to the fact that 'there are leaves in the gutter'. Fortunately it's got a TPO on it so first port of call is to get in touch with the tree officer to ask what they say we can do.

I've suggested that a thin would mean that they'd get some dappled shade but I know that Beech suffer from bark scorch if too much light is allowed into the crown so what is the best way to combat this?

Any knowledge on Beech pruning techniques will gratefully be accepted.

Thanks lads n ladies
