Meindl Timberking boots

Chris have always used haix but last time went for meindl and can find no fault what so ever. Not sure which ones mine are but are goretex, vibram sole, memory foam inner and are a dead ringer for the haix. Never clean mine and still going strong after 6 months, dealer did them for 140.00.

I have Aquafell Xpert boots and I think they are great. I bought a pair at the APF and this will be my fourth pair. The last pair have lasted about 2 years, have had a fair bashing in that time and are still 100% waterproof.

I don't know about the Meindl boots in question but I've always used their chainsaw boots and have similar walking boots and I couldn't rate them more.

 

Just replacing my current pair at the moment and they've had alot of wear and don't fall apart like a couple of pairs of hiax's I've seen and worn.

Looks like the Timberking's aren't looking quite so appealing - they were £185 at the APF (though there were only two pairs and odd sizes) but will be £220 normally.

 

That is a fair chunk less than the rest of Europe though so not all bad - but it does make them a whole load more than the woodlander, which doesn't seem a whole lot different to the timberking at a glance.

Chris, I have a pair of Tirols that are now 3 1/2 years old, getting ready for a resole.

 

Loads of life in them yet.

 

Very stiff when new and take a lot of breaking in and are numb to drive in.

 

They are not goretex, so you have to remember to wax them every so often.

 

But it has to be very severe for them to get wet through.

 

Even then, because they are not goretex, they will dry properly overnight anyway.

 

I thought they were expensive, but have actually been very cheap boots.

I agree about the tirrols big ammer, i was out in them the other day and it was chucking it down in long grass and i still had dry feet despite them not being goretex. just put beeswax on them and blow over with a hot hairdryer and the wax melts into all the seems. I do this once every 6 weeks roughly.

I find my haixs don't last me much longer then a year before the sole starts coming apart. Iv had tirrols for 6months now and with hard use they still look like new apart from a few scuffs.

They look cool too- real mans boot:lol:
