Jensen Chippers, views please

I own two and have owned another untill it was stolen.

 

The A340 is a heavy well built machine,with tremendous infeed power and chip velocity.Very easy to maintain due to the way the Engine swings away from the rest of the cutting unit.The down side of the machine,is that small branches can catch at the end of the top feed roller and hinder feeding untill you reverse the rollers to spit it out.

 

I have a 528T Tracked machine,made in 2002 with 2000Hours on it.Another well build solid reliable machine.Easy to maintain,cheap to fix,what more could you want?

I had an old A328 PTO Jensen which was good.

 

I've now got a fairly new A540di 7.5" which is fantastic. Good design with everything in the right place and easy access, except the dip stick which is a bit too short.

It weighs 1.2T and although it's labelled as a 7.5" it will chip an 8" log as long as its smooth.

I did look at the new 9" Jensen but its too big and heavy behind a 3.5t truck.

I'd choose a Jensen every time as the quality is as good as you'd hope and the back up is excellent. Don't underestimate the cost of down time!

mmm, looks like their on a winner then, A540 tuntable it is then possibly with the turbo option, anyone think the Turbo is needed?

 

I saw the new Schliesing 175 at the APF I was a little dissapointed I must say, alot smaller than the Jensen A540 I know, I was hoping it would be a 750kg leader not likely tho, shame always liked Schliesing.

Excellent, productive chippers. Hate the cone hopper tho, got to be the folding hopper with flat table. Had A530t, narrow hopper, as others have said, top roller can get jammed up. Used A430t, very hungry machine, throws chip with serious power. Solid machines indeed.

Iv never used a jensen but having a good look at them at the APF i was very impressed with the build quality, particularly the flywheel design. I am having a demo for one soon. Im interested to see how the one sided feeded roller design compares to Timberwolfs
