the first disadvantage i can see from the situation of small firm is the running and repair costs versus the proffit o creating bio mass .

 

on the pluss side i can see it being potentially really viable if your doing it on a small scale for your own uses with a cheaper machine etc

what are the advantages & disadvantages of using a shredder or chipper for the production of biomass

 

Ive just had a contractor in to chip my fuel with a drum chipper, which was quite impressive. Not being very up on these things could you tell me what sort of shredder would people use?

Shredders require far more energy than a chipper to process the same amount of material, but will deal better than a chipper with contaminated material.

 

For clean material a chipper is by far the best option, IMO.
