I bought a masport 22" from Jonsie, it has been great so far and was in the £3-400 range I think. Its a decent well made mower. Look on the FR Jones site on the RHS of the screen.

actually i second this.. i have the 18 inch masport and its a good machine.. the only thing i dont like it the handle folding assembily is abit fimsy.

I thought this was an ARB forum, not a gardening forum. Jus sayin

Maybe it was the part that says if you are unsure where to post your thread put it here??

I was thinking ferris when you said how big the garden was. But a bit pricy maybe.

Stick to what you know and go for a Honda. 20 inch deck maybe.

There are many good mowers suitable for the OP's task on the market, many of which have been mentioned here.

There are also many machines totally unsuitable.

I am a dealer, so this opinion is biased, but I do feel that the success of the chosen mower is in part down to the dealer it is bought from.

Maybe rather than choose a mower, choose a dealer who is good and local. Ask his advice and buy from his product range. You will then have excellent support and spares backup.

How come? I always thought their walk behinds were supposed to be the bees knees...? Or have they changed hands and gone to the wall....?

My experience - albeit based on one machine bought about 10/12 years ago - is that they have far too much plastic and fall to bits in next to no time. Definitely not up to serious work.

If they've changed since then or have a non-Airfix range running in parallel then apologies to them.
