The Hitch-Hiker - The new direction in srt?

I have just received a nice new package from Ropetek in the states :thumbup1:

I love the fact that it tends the hitch & is a small compact unit. I will report back as I get proficient with it. The pics are not how it will be set up to use - the cord needs to be attached to the krab

(sorry about my poor pics)

Looks interesting.

From the pic's it looks as if the crab becomes part of the friction loading mechanism. Am I right or wrong path all together?

If that is the case would the gap be big enough for one of the fancy roller integrated crabs to fit in as this would reduce wear on the crab & need for replacement in time.

I assume their is some sort of bend in the system as with the RW. Sorry hard to see in 2d.

Looks like a very tidy in line set up though, will keep an eye out for your feed back:thumbup:

Just re read your post & bit about crab being connected to the friction cord, so ignore bit about friction & crab ect:blushing:

Interesting Pete, let us know how you get on with the double overhands tightening up.

(edit) what are the stopper knots in your pic and what is recommended?

Is the Petzl Oxan the only steel climbing biner that can be used? reason I ask is can you put that biner through the top hole and use that instead of the dogbone thing to save time undoing the knots?

do you know how long the inventor of the hitch hiker been climbing on that setup?

The Oxan is recommended Tim.

The "dog bone" is a replacement for the top krab. I will still knot the cordage below it to fine tune it's function, but the primary connection will be to the krab.

As for timing, you know as much as I do - a krab at the top was in the origonal set-up but superceeded enthusiastically by this one

At last. I've been following (& posting) on the HH thread that PCTREE has been running on The Treehouse.

It's been great to see the development process and it really looks like its going to be a superb climbing aid. If my RW wasn't only 8 months old I would have beaten Pete to getting the first one.

Apparently if you are making a DRT ascent to get to your TIP, the HH just sits in neutral and then starts working when you change to SRT.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this thread develop.
