Damn another source has told me it's not rated for srt. Hmmm the next question is that make it dangerous. So is anything rated with the rw? It's allowed for this comp as it's only a small comp not ISA . This device gives you huge advantages in the masters

I'm pretty sure it's not been tested or rated for srt, that has nothing to do with it's function or purpose. It will hold you on a single line in the event of wrench failure but that doesn't mean you should rely on it. I've done a few baby drop test style things with the Lj and rw and I'm happy enough with the results that I have made the descision to use this setup everyday.

When I have a bit of spare cash/gear, I'm gonna do proper drop tests to see how it holds up.

Hope Ian doesn't mind the photo:thumbup:

Edit; for the record, I competed on the RW/LJ at the Cutters and Climbers, again only a small comp, but the organisers were happy enough to let me use it

this is from the teetools website -

"Ascend or descend using doubled rope technique (DdRT) - all in one unit! Works the same way as a friction hitch but instead of friction cord the Lockjack has an aluminum cam which pinches the line when under load. The cams can be easily replaced - the unit comes with two different size cams - one for 11-12 mm rope and the other for 12-13 mm. Your rope will run freely through the Lockjack when not under load ensuring no slack in your line. Great for limb walking. Includes a built-in swivel to eliminate twisting of your line. This device is very sensitive and only suitable for experienced climbers. CE Certified. "

i don't know if this is straight from a.r.t but obviously it doesnt mention srt so i'm guessing they don't intend it for that use, however i think its fair to say that it works and theres quite a few people using it day to day. might be a hard one to argue though for the comp. good luck!:001_smile:

My man Geoff aka bbtarb used a RW in the UK ISA comp this year for his aerial rescue....

i had to explain what i wanted to do beforehand in detail to them but otherwise all good, and real useful for that rescue!

So used it in an actual ISA comp, interesting that's a step forward. The simplicity for aerial rescue took the trainer by surprise, when we were at training. It's only the last day they've started panicking 'is it rated?'. I guess LJ only under went drt testing while developing as that's the only way we used to get around the tree. I'm assuming a French prussik would be 'rated' ok with RW? a back up if I can't fight LJ's corner
