False Black Widow

I was having a shower this evening and looked round and saw a False Black Widow Spider trying to climb the tiles by the window. I am not usually scared of spiders so i thought i would finish the shower and try to catch the spider in a jar.

Next thing i know is the spider floating around by my feet.

Now i am not adverse to sharing a shower with a female:001_rolleyes: but one that will bite is going a bit far especially with my heart condition.

I got out as casual as you like and let it float down the drain.

Has anyone else found one of these, from what I've read they are getting quite common.

My daughter got bitten a couple of weeks ago on the leg. The bite turned almost straight away into a blister and the skin in a circle about 10cm diameter around went bright red, plus it caused leg pain all down her thigh. Gave her an antihistamine and the redness went down. Blister lasted a few days and there is still a clear mark there now.

They are becoming very common in the uk now and can give a nasty bite, I love spiders and would never harm one intentionally as they are great in the house for killing flys and bugs. I want a tarantula but my mrs won't let me have one.

I don't think they are that poisonous. Although they are getting more common . I'd look about for the rest of his mates :001_smile:

To my knowledge all spiders a venomous. How one reacts to being bitten and treatment after the fact is the key to a successful or less than successful outcome:sneaky2:. As suggested watch out for more since they seldome travel alone.

Fair point ELG , similar to Wasp stings then . When one person will react and another will not .
