I have a problem developing on my discovery 1, was driving and the diff lock light was flickering on the dash.

 

Lever is ok, was doing about 30mph, have been using it shortly to get in and out of a gateway but that's it.

 

I can feel it engaging when the light flickers, a bit worried its going to come on and stay on, is there a way if disengaging it at the axle?

 

It's in the transfer box rather than the axle. It can be disconnected [it's what they did in some D2's] but I would suggest your problem is more than likely to be a worn linkage or similar... If you send me your email address I'll send you the proper LR workshop manual for the transfer box.....

aye just been looking at this on a bike forum, surley its not workable? millions of modified vehicles out there and ther no just talking boy racers they mean everything!

In a way I have to agree with this.

 

I've seen many modifications done to cars by there owners that IMO make the car dangerous. Like cutting springs to lower the car. Badly fitting brakes. Engine mods that are stupid.

 

It seems that any major modification would mean the car would have to be tested to ensure it is still roadworthy. Would put a lot of bodgers off doing work.

 

Don't forget all cars have to go through various va tests to make sur whey comply with the law and are safe for people to drive.

thats the kinda thing that should be picked up at mot but the proposal is not oe not roadworthy tdi in a s3 off the road matey, wider wheels off the road, winch off the road etc madness!

Would two horns be too much for the MOT? Got the standard LR horn and an ex-Ambulance horn incase the LR horn drowns again. The Ambulance horn is from an Iveco.

It isnt a 400 watt bull horn it is just a back up. According to the MOT specs as long as the horn can be heard above the engine noise it is a pass. But it cant exceed 120dB (Jet engine)

aye thats current mot but these new proposals want it so all vehicles must be 100% as they left factory to be road legal, like i said surely its not workable least i hope no otherwise my chop is screwed haha
