anyone got any advice on winch and winch bumper combos, for 200TDI on galvanised chassis TD5 2002 body but 89 vehicle reg

I had a warn m8000 on my disco and it was a great winch. Definitely choose synthetic line. Chassis are the same on defenders so you are spoilt for choice for a bumper. You can get one that's a standard shape square with a winch tray that's not overly pricey.

The warn winch is quite short so won't stick out too much to the undesirables. Coupled with the standard ish bumper it keeps it looking standard.

Alternatively you could get a tubular bumper with spotlight mounts and stick a warn power plant which is 9000lb and has a built in compressor so you can blow your tyres up anywhere.

Terrafirma is the posh kit but bearmach is a good middle ground. Personally I would avoid britpart

I would recommend David Bowyer, he has everything you need and offers friendy advice with good service and reasonable price.

The Goldfish is a proven winch and used widely in competitions, it can come with air free spool and radio remote.

I now drive to work in a bit of comfort and can for once get the chipper to the job. Maybe not the best arb truck but it'll do for me. Always heard of horror stories with the P38's but now I have one they are pretty simple to sort out. Its now off the road as I have pulled off the front hub and now waiting for a new bearing.

Question.

Loads of welding need doing. So, cut out rotten stuff and plate on inside with weld on outside, or plate on outside weld on outside, or plate on outside and weld on inside?

Foot wells and boot by the way.

You can buy repair panels for the boot floor. Assuming its a disco?

Cut it all out and fill the gap IMO

I know but I've got a load of sheet steel left over from a previous job. So may aswell use that.

Seen the panels and how to fit them. Just may aswell use the sheet. Then next time I can strip the landy right apart and take the body off. But for now it's getting plated.
