Not a bad idea there, it would be look like a natural unplanned CATastrophe, better still I would not be in the vicinity, you won't get me within a mile radius of that behemoth feline atrocity of nature.....:scared1:

We could have a nice service around the kitty litter tray too!:goodnight::bawling::wavey:

And there was me worried that I had gone a bit too far!:001_smile:

Why not bring him up for a nice leisurely stroll in the wood? Plenty of hard to spot tripping hazards, and I might just have left a few hazel stools rather less than optimally flat!

I'm sure he would enjoy a personal demonstration of the internal workings of Puffing Billy. And we can swap tales of his life well lived as he provides the fuel for the wake bbq.:)

Good idea, but he might spit a bit, bless him.

this thread and Arbtalk in general have really helped me see how the pro's work - huge capital tied up and a clued up team getting the big trees done in a day or two. I quite like climbing the little silver birch etc in gardens, but these big tree firms allow you to tackle the monster jobs.

Would like to know the finance business side of getting rid of the waste - do Premier (and similar big operations) give the chip away, or sell to power stations? What diameter branch wood is chipped and what is deemed worth the time to save?

With the jobs of a whole line of Leyland Cypress, Lawson etc is it more cost effective to just chip the lot and get away quick?

I see some big PTO tractor chippers pictured earlier, must eat whole connifers - just have to try to explain to customer that it does still have to be £200 even if you're off after one hour.

Mr Tree Fancier to answer yoyr question,We are only a small team in terms of staff but we are a Big hitter when it comes to Jobs....we have a chipper for each day of the week if we chose to......Forst..Schleising,GM safetrack Jensen 540 all tracked PTO or towable. Everything is chipped or picked up by the Jonsered on the Mog....ringing up is a rareity here.Chip is taken by Mr Stobart. Never really drag or lift anything...just Climb,Cut or Chip. It is a very functional and productive work ethic....there are two young climber/groundies and the rest of us are a little more seasoned.....there is no shouting (which never achieves anything in my experience);everyone falls into a role on site and together we are a highly capable crew able to tackle any Treework. Tree Surgery is not rocket science.... Good moral is a vital ingredient and is fundamental in a top class outfit. Haven't seen a Conifer in a while now but i imagine if we were to take on a large area removal we would hit it very hard and very quickly.
