It inflates to 8bar but will only need a couple of bar to lift a stem, I intend to make an adaptor so I can use a foot pump for ease of use, otherwise a divers bottle is used.

 

My mate is into recovery so uses these a lot they are expensive unless you can pick them up used. This one is about 20" by 14" and I cadged it off him for £50

He did have some 90 ton ones :001_smile:

It should be operated with a special valve block which has blowoff valves etc but all you do is wedge and chock as you lift for safety. One small pad on its own will lift 9" which is just enough to get some timber under to rest the stem on.

Its quite simple to knock up a valve system with a safety blowoff valve set at around 7 bar so you can't over inflate
