I pay £100 for a SE groundie and hes worth every bit of it as I don't have to tell him what to do- just gets on with it. Any less for anyone whos good on the ground and at overall work procedures is a bit tight IMO.

yes i agree on a self employed basis 68 is not enough. i do use another guy on a self employed basis and he gets 120 a day. but on an employed basis? he does not drive (i keep moaning to him about this) and is not particularly switched on but is very reliable.

 

i want to be fair to the guy and pay him the going rate for an employed groundworker. like i said i have never employed anyone before. what are you guys paying employed staff?

You're doing this wrong. If he needs to lose weight then you should be charging him for making use of 'drag n chip bootcamp' - after all, it's doing him good

My groundy is either my business partner who is also the second climber or our arb consultant a 63year old retired London Borough tree officer who grafts better than most 25 year olds.

Either way, around 150euros is our rate regardless if they are self employed or not.

This person gets charged out at up to 300euros per day if I can get away with it.

See here in Le Merde profond (the deep ****) we pay 19.6% t.v.a then 62.5% social charges then tax then we get to keep a coin for ourselves.

To employ someone on the minimum wage of approx 9.50 euros costs us a further 15euros 'approx'

So having filled Sarkosy's coffers we are now filling Monsewer Hollands to an even deeper extent which is why I have removed the hour counters on certain machines because I like to earn my holiday money tax free....hhhhh:001_rolleyes:

£100 a day for a s/e groundie with cs30, 31 and 38 and driving + trailer licence. On the other hand, young, keen brush-rat who can graft and is eager to learn - £50 to £60 a day, somewhere in between...£80 a day and all the woodchip they can eat.... Good groundies are rare beasts and are undervalued, a dependable, trustworthy bloke on the ground, who can look out for you up the tree, mind your ropes, rig and think for himself is worth keeping hold of.

i like working with him , only small stuff / ground level jobs as he cant climb .... plus my mother always makes me bait and gets him to fetch it in - bonus

between £65 and £80 on the books without aerial rescue. But they do get to work all year with holidays and have ticket opportunities and PPE supplied etc. They don't mind. The young ones living at home are positively loaded.
