Yep out TO told me to do the very same thing about 10 years back, a couple of years after that I was told to bore cut the pocket to drain the cavity :001_rolleyes: live and learn :001_cool:

8ft is well below ladder reach, so it wouldn't have bothered me....

 

Seriously, good heads up. That kind of thing is potentially life-threatening, never mind chain-destroying.

 

Time spent checking is never wasted.

By the way Trad Log, what is that artifact from the coppice stump?

 

It's a choker slider from a winch. You have 4 or 5 of these on your winch cable and you set the choker chains on the sliders. Guess someone broke a winch cable in the past.
